Hazel Grove Primary School marked a special milestone with the grand opening of its brand-new school library – a space designed to inspire a lifelong love of reading among pupils.

The event was made even more magical by two very special guests: Steve Bellis, the President of Stockport County Football Club, and Vernon Bear, the club’s beloved mascot. Both were warmly welcomed by excited pupils and staff, adding a touch of local pride to the occasion.

Our special guests were joined for the ribbon-cutting ceremony by our House Captains and members of our Pupil Parliament Department of Arts and Reading.

Adam Hossen, Head of School, said:

“Our new library is more than just shelves full of books – it’s a gateway to explore, imagine, and learn. Opening it at this time of year makes it even more special, as we celebrate the gift of reading.”

Vernon Bear charmed the children with high-fives and festive fun, while Steve Bellis spoke in a school assembly about the importance of reading, encouraging pupils to make use of their new library.

The library boasts cozy reading corners and a wide range of books for all ages; including a few books about Stockport County Football Club!

As the school looks forward to the new year, the library promises to be a hub of creativity and curiosity.
