On 25 November 2025, Hazel Grove Primary School opened its doors to the past with a pop-up museum celebrating the rich history of the local community. The event transformed the school hall into a treasure trove of artefacts, photographs, and pupil research projects; giving families and visitors a chance to explore the stories that shaped Hazel Grove.

Over the course of the term pupils have studied how life in the area has changed over the decades, with local history walks, studying architecture and asking parents and grandparents to share their own memories. One particularly special moment came when a grandparent, attending with their grown-up family members and their children – all of whom have attended Hazel Grove Primary – discovered their own name, along with other family names, in the school’s historic admissions records. This touching find highlighted the deep connections between the school and the generations it has served.

The pop-up museum was part of the school’s ongoing commitment to enriching the curriculum with real-world experiences. Adam Hossen, Head of School said:

“It was wonderful to see our pupils engaging with local history and understanding how their families and community have contributed, and continue to contribute, to the story of Hazel Grove. Events like this help children appreciate where they come from, where they belong and feel proud of their heritage”

The event was filled with curiosity, conversation, and a renewed sense of belonging – proving that history isn’t just about the past; it’s about the people and places that continue to shape the future.
